Our cleaning company in the United Kingdom increased its results by a good margin in 2010. The company succeeded in bringing in a number of good contracts and generated a modest profit on its operational activities. The security industry is however going through a more difficult period. Though the jobs the company is undertaking do generate a profit, the scale of the company is simply too small to enable it to achieve a positive result. That formed the reason why the entire division ultimately recorded negative figures. After getting off to a slow start at the beginning of the year, the cleaning branch of Facilicom United Kingdom developed well. As the Managing Director, Jan Hein Hemke, explained, ‘it is good to see that we are now succeeding in bringing in some larger contracts. Last year, for example, we witnessed additional growth in the food sector, partly as a result of obtaining contracts to provide cleaning services at two manufacturing locations operated by one of our existing clients. We are now servicing eight different sites for that client alone. At the start of 2011, we commenced a contract for the cleaning of 51 premises in central London on behalf of a property management company.’
