Assitance to Passengers with Reduced Mobility

At Brussels Airport, Axxicom Airport Caddy offers assistance to passengers with reduced mobility. This service is contracted by the Brussels Airport Company. Passengers with reduced mobility are passengers who have difficulties moving themselves around the airport’s premises, due to a physical handicap and therefore require assistance. Examples of passengers with reduced mobility are:

Elderly people who cannot (easily) walk distances
Passengers who always need a wheelchair
Passengers who are deaf or hard of hearing
Passengers who are blind or visually impaired
Passengers who have a mental disorder
These passengers can apply for assistance by handing in an assistance request.
The assistance is offered from initial point of arrival at the airport to the airplane’s cabin seat when needed. Whenever necessary, one can be assisted from the bus station, the train station, the taxi stand, the car park or from the departure hall all the way up to the airplane.

When you wish to apply for such assistance, which is free of charge, please make sure you apply at least 36 hours prior to departure using either the appointed phone numbers or through the online application form on this website. When you apply later, we will obviously do our utmost to assist you in every way we can and as soon as possible, however, some waiting time will could occur. 

Important!
It is imperative that you inform your carrier about the fact that you will be traveling and that you need special assistance. This needs to be done at least 48 hours prior to departure!

When applying for assistance it is important to verify the following:

nature of assistance
o Whether you can walk short distances or not at all
o Whether you can ascend or descend stairways
o Whether you can(not) move yourself (at all)
o Whether you are blind or visually impaired
o Whether you are deaf or hard of hearing
o Whether you request assistance for someone with a mental disorder
Flight Number and date of flying
If you intend to bring your own wheelchair (regular or electric (dry or wet cell))
And anything else you consider important for us to know to enable us to assist you in the best possible way (e.g. Agoraphobia or Claustrophobia)
Once you have arrived at the Airport, you should notify our coordinator about your arrival by:

Using one of the posts (see picture) that can be found on the airport plan One of our Passenger Assistants will meet you there and assist you on your further journey through the airport. These posts are clearly marked.
